Cross-cutting activities
Within the framework of the German Federal Government’s Energy Research Programme, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) also provides funding for Studies on cross-cutting, trans-sectoral and interdisciplinary topics, which promote the ongoing development of the overall Strategy to increase the use of renewable energies. The funding focuses on three priority areas:
- Accessing renewable technologies and their impacts, studies on the relationship between renewable energies and other environmental and nature conservation policy objectives, analyzing obstacles, economic and structural questions, and aspects of energy security
- Integration of conventional and renewable energies considering the growing high share of renewables, modernizing the complete energy system.
- Studies on environmental communication, especially on measures to reduce a lack of skilled workers in the field of renewables and of raising the acceptance for renewable energies.
