Acceptance of renewable energies

In several research projects researchers have dealt with the question of how acceptance for renewables evolves, is lowered or limited and can be encouraged.

A vital result is that the earlier siting decisions include people in the surroundings, the better the acceptance when building starts. What is more, general information on technology and renewable energies’ importance for preventing climate change encourages their acceptance. After a site was built, transparency and clear communication also enhance acceptance.

On the international level the International Energy Agency founded a working group that will exchange findings on the acceptance of wind energy and will work on common recommendations.
