Renewable energies in education

Though there is plenty of educational material on climate and energy, hardly any information on renewables reached schools’ curricula, the German Solar Society DGS states in the results of the project "Powerado" funded by BMU. In this project among other material boxes, an online game and much more was developed.

The Institute for Environmental Questions (UfU) proves that the well-intended support of schools by installing solar panels on their roofs has its problems. The pure installation does not ensure that the topic is actually dealt with in classes. What is most important is that teachers are qualified to deal with the issue and that the heads of schools set the right priorities. Ufu shows good practice and gives hints in its (German only) brochure.
